DeVries PR Installs Allman as President

BOSTON Interpublic Group’s DeVries Public Relations has hired Jim Allman as president, the agency said.

“Jim’s experience in agency management, brand building and marketing communications, both domestically and internationally, is exactly what we need right now to complement our strong marketing public relations capabilities,” said Madeline de Vries, founder, chairman and CEO of the New York-based firm. “The country’s leading marketers are increasingly demanding more sophisticated and innovative communications programs to drive their brands, and Jim will contribute enormously to our growing communications capabilities.”

Allman succeeds Ildy Herczeg, who left the agency last September after 15 years.

Most recently, Allman was executive vice president of worldwide marketing at Sotheby’s Holdings in New York. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Ammirati Puris Lintas as chairman and CEO, among other positions. Before Ammirati, Allman worked at WPP Group’s J. Walter Thompson for more than a decade. At JWT, he began as an account manager in the agency’s Chicago office; he eventually became worldwide director in charge of all the shop’s Unilever foods and personal products assignments.

DeVries’ client roster includes the Gap’s Old Navy, Tupperware and Procter & Gamble.
