Bogusky Helms Titanium, Integrated Jury

NEW YORK Alex Bogusky, chief creative officer at MDC Partners’ Crispin Porter + Bogusky, was named head of the Titanium and Integrated Lions jury at the 54th annual Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.

“The advertising industry is a richer and a more exciting place thanks to Alex,” said Terry Savage, executive chairman of the festival, in a statement. “Richer for his ideas and his constant pushing of creative boundaries, and more exciting thanks to his beliefs and influence on popular culture.”

Under Bogusky’s creative leadership, CP+B in recent years has won four Cannes Grand Prixes in as many categories and was crowned interactive agency of the year in both 2005 and 2006.

“The aspect of advertising that has always been the most interesting for me is the immediate perishable nature of it,” said Bogusky. “The way an idea can live in a moment of time and be defined by—and help define—that same moment.”

Integrated campaigns are defined as using three or more forms of media. Titaniums honor breakthrough ideas.

A single jury judges both categories.

Earlier this month, Bob Scarpelli, chairman and worldwide CCO at DDB, was named to chair both the Film and Press juries. “I hope and expect that the work we select will be as inspiring as the festival and the winners have been in the past to me and to our agency,” he said.

DDB in 2000 took home the Film Grand Prix for Budweiser’s “Whassup” campaign. Its “Real Men of Genius” radio efforts for Bud scored prizes in each of the past two years.

The festival takes place June 17-23 in Cannes, France.
