NEW YORK AKQA said it has won the largest creative account in its history by being named the lead Web agency for the United States Postal Service.

The project, an undisclosed share of a $55 million contract, calls for the San Francisco-based independent to design and maintain USPS.com, the postal service’s main consumer Web destination.

AKQA’s Washington, D.C., office will handle the account, led by managing director Jason Whiting, the agency said.

As part of the project, AKQA plans to overhaul USPS.com
