Ad-Lib Wins Play-Off for San Jose Earthquakes

SAN FRANCISCO Ad-Lib Creative has been awarded the creative and media buying account of the San Jose Earthquakes, a Major League Soccer team.

The independent San Francisco shop won the account of the Northern California franchise after a three-month review, besting two undisclosed agencies.

Ad-Lib will handle the soccer club’s 2003 advertising campaign. Television spots are expected to begin airing on Fox Sports Network, ESPN and ESPN2 on April 18, to coincide with the start of the season. The campaign will also include regional radio, newspaper and outdoor work aimed at building awareness of the team and increasing game attendance. Billings were not disclosed.

The San Jose Earthquakes, one of the top-ranked MLS clubs, won the league’s championship cup in 2001. Two of its players, Landon Donovan and Jeff Agoos, played on the national team in the U.S. bid for the World Cup last summer.
