ABC, MindShare Form TV Show Partnership

NEW YORK Disney’s ABC television network and WPP Group’s MindShare have entered into an agreement to jointly develop and produce new TV programming, with a particular focus on shows targeted to families.

Details about the financial arrangements between the network and the media shop were not disclosed. The deal calls for ABC and MindShare to divide development costs. Furthermore, the agreement stipulates that MindShare clients will be brought in as sponsors, an ABC representative said. The network will retain all distribution rights to the series that are created from this partnership, with MindShare sharing in any profits arising from syndication sales, the representative added.

MindShare hired Peter Tortorici, an independent producer and a former president of both CBS Entertainment and Telemundo, in January as director of programming. Tortorici, who is based in Los Angeles, will spearhead the programming development from MindShare’s end, a representative from the media agency said.
