Andrew Capasso is leaving San Antonio Fox affiliate KABB after two years at the station.
Capasso told viewers his departure is because of his wife’s cancer diagnosis.
“I’ve decided to leave San Antonio and, at least for now, press pause on my 20-year career in TV news. Our family needs time to heal from a very difficult 2 years and they’re getting all of me to start that process,” he wrote on social media. “I have a few more weeks with you on TV I’ll share more soon about what’s next.”
The San Antonio News Express said “Capasso has been on the air sporadically, as his wife received medical treatment in Houston.”
According to Houston media writer Mike McGuff, Capasso became the KABB morning anchor after the departure of longtime anchor Ernie Zuniga in 2023.
Before coming to San Antonio, Capasso was a morning anchor and reporter for KOLD in Tucson, Arizona. Before that, he worked at stations in Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Montana.
