Bakersfield, Calif., anchor Dave Gonzales is retiring after nearly 40 years in local TV.

Gonzales began working in local TV in San Diego after starting in radio. He then moved to Salinas-Monterey, Fresno and then Los Angeles, where he anchored the news at KCAL for 17 years. He started working at KBAK-KBFX in 2015.

“When our world was uncertain, Dave was there in his calm voice delivering the important facts,” the station said on its website. “For the past seven years, Dave has been a mentor and critical eye for young journalist that have cycled through Eyewitness News. The knowledge and experience he brings to our newsroom will be greatly missed.”
