Where do former radio guys-turned-TV execs go for new programming? Radio, of course. Tribune’s super channel, WGN America announced Thursday (Aug. 21) it will add the morning radio show, The Bob & Tom Show to its line up. Beginning Nov. 3, WGN America will air an hour’s worth of highlights from the program weekdays Midnight to 1 a.m. ET.
Syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks, The Bob & Tom Show is hosted by Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold on more than 150 radio stations.
“The addition of ‘The Bob & Tom Show’ to WGN America’s Fall schedule is in line with our strategy of providing our viewers quality entertainment that they can’t get anywhere else,” said Sean Compton, senior vp of programming and development for Tribune and former programming exec for Clear Channel, parent of Premiere.
Tribune has been focusing on revitalizing the super station. In May, WGN was re-branded as WGN America, complete with a new slogan borrowed from radio, “TV You Can’t Ignore,” and voiceovers from radio legend Casey Kasem.
