Bonten Media Group announced Monday (July 14) it is adding to its TV station portfolio with a deal to acquire WTVF-TV, the CBS affiliate in Nashville, Tenn., the 30th largest market, from Landmark Communications. The deal will give Bonten, formed in Nov. 2006 by Diamond Castle Holdings and former Emmis Communications TV president Randy Bongarten, the group’s largest market station.
Terms were not disclosed.
“We are thrilled to add WTVF, a market-leading CBS affiliate, to Bonten Media Group’s portfolio of high performing television stations, said Randy Bongarten, chairman and CEO of Bonten. “This acquisition reflects our confidence in the future of WTVF in particular and of local television in general.”
Bonten Media group currently operates 16 TV stations in eight markets.
Landmark recently announced a deal to sell The Weather Channel to NBC Universal and two private equity firms. The divestitures are in keeping with the company’s intention to sell its properties, which also include several daily and weekly newspapers.
