Report: NBC's Zucker Threatening to Yank Conan

The insanity continues. In this latest twist on the bizarre Jay Leno/Conan O’Brien dilemma, NBC Universal honcho Jeff Zucker, who many believe is the source of this embarrassing mess, is now threatening to keep Conan O’Brien off the air for three-and-a-half years unless Conan agrees to host The Tonight Show at 12:05 a.m. beginning in February, according to columnist Nikki Finke.

NBC, of course, is planning on airing a shortened version of The Jay Leno Show at 11:35 p.m., followed by The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Conan has publicly blogged he is not interested in staying with NBC under that scenario.

Fox, meanwhile, is waiting in the wings to see if it can work out a deal with Conan for a competing late-night talker. And affable Jay Leno, who always seems to roll with the punches, is threatening to leave NBC. Stay tuned.
