Serial killer drama earns a second season

The wait is over for NBC’s killer new drama Hannibal, as the Peacock on Thursday announced it has renewed the show for a second season.

Based on the 1981 Thomas Harris novel, Red Dragon, and developed by writer and executive producer Bryan Fuller (Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies), Hannibal will return in 2014 for a 13-episode midseason or summer run.

NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke made the call, saying, “There are many great stories still to be told.”

Through its first eight episodes, Hannibal is averaging 3.13
