Marc Montoya was named senior vp of eMedia sales and operations for Nexstar Broadcasting Group, effective Oct. 26. A 21-year digital executive, Montoya was most recently a co-founder and president of Noofangle Media, an Internet media company that develops Web sites with user-generated content for traditional broadcasters.
He replaces Todd Porch, who recently exited Nexstar.
In his new position, Montoya will be responsible for generating revenue for Nexstar’s eMedia operations, which includes 33 local community Web portals. He will also work on developing and launching on-demand services that deliver media-rich content and provide incremental revenue for the company.
Nexstar is betting Montoya can take its eMedia initiatives to the next level. In second quarter, Nexstar’s eMedia revenue rose 15.4 percent to $3 million.
“Since launching our new media initiatives in 2007, Nexstar has successfully developed its 33 local community Web portals into a fast growing, high margin revenue stream that complements its core local broadcast activities,” said Brian Jones, co-chief operating officer of Nexstar to whom Montoya reports. “Marc’s proven management abilities and sales expertise will be strong factors in achieving our goals in the second phase of growth for our eMedia platform.”
Prior to Noofangle, Montoya served as vp of business development for Match.com. He has also held management positions at Yahoo! and AOL.
