Stepping up its video syndication business, Meredith plans to announce today (Dec. 7) that it has signed its first broadband syndication deal with five leading distributors including YouTube/Google, Sprint TV, Grab Networks, 5min and News Inc.

Under the terms of the agreement, Meredith Video Studios will create and distribute content based on its national magazine brands such as Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle, Parents and Fitness. Meredith and the partners will share ad revenue sold with the video content.

“Our brands offer broadband networks a robust depth of content with nearly 550 Better episodes and 75 hours of Parents TV videos,” said Kieran Clarke, executive vp of Meredith Video Studios. “In exchange, broadband networks give us the global reach we need to build our brands.”

Launched in 2006, Meredith Video Studios was created to leverage content from its TV stations and iconic magazine brands to other distribution platforms. Better Homes and Gardens is now a daily TV show syndicated in 50 markets and a broadband channel, BetterTV.com.
