Mediaweek TV: Fox Has Faith in Raising Hope

Live action comedy has remained Fox's Achilles Heel for several seasons now.

But the network could change that with two new single-cam sitcoms: Raising Hope and Running Wilde. Both shows premiere Tuesday, Sept. 21, with Raising Hope kicking off the one-hour block at 9 p.m., following Glee.

Created by Greg Garcia (My Name is Earl), Raising Hope revolves around a twentysomething named Jimmy Chance (Lucas Neff), whose one-night stand with a less-than-perfect woman results in the birth of a baby girl whom Chance then decides to rear in the midst of an already dysfunctional family. The series features Martha Plimpton as Chance's mom and Cloris Leachman as his grandmother.

Raising Hope creator Greg Garcia recently sat down with Mediaweek's Alan Frutkin to talk about the series—and his regard for Ms. Leachman.
