In times of turmoil, TV is a reliable anodyne, a soothing approximation of comfort food that won’t necessarily add inches to your hips. Women in particular are looking to the tube as a means of handling stress, said Lifetime executive vp of research Mike Greco, who has prepped a comprehensive survey on how a desire for more “Me Time” translates into increased viewing.

“As the world around us gets more crazy and uncertain, we’re finding that women are immersing themselves in TV as a means of escape,” Greco said.
