WTXF, Fox Television’s owned-and-operated station in Philadelphia will launch a half-hour newscast at 6 p.m. beginning Monday Sept. 7. Fox 29 News at Six will give the station an hour-and-half of early news beginning at 5 a.m.

To make room for the new newscast, TMZ will move to 6:30 p.m., up against the network newscasts.

“The launch of Fox 29 News at Six is part of the ongoing evolution of our news product. Having the most locally produced news hours in the market allows us to provide viewers with the type of in-depth coverage that sets us apart from the competition,” said Mike Renda, vp and general manager for WTXF.
