CBS Radio and Dial Global have partnered to launch Michael Smerconish into national syndication. Smerconish, currently the morning host (6 a.m. to 9 a.m.) on CBS Talk stations in Philadelphia (WPHT-AM) and Washington, D.C. (WHFS-AM), will host an additional two-hour daily show, The Michael Smerconish Program in the 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. time period.

Dial Global will handle the advertising and affiliate sales for the program.

Stations will have the option of affiliating with either program. The first new affiliate to sign for the two-hour show is WOR-AM in New York, which will clear the show 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Smerconish will be the third new daily radio show vying for the 425 affiliates that formerly carried Bill O'Reilly's The Radio Factor. To replace O'Reilly, Westwood One is launching Fred Thompson into national syndication on March 2. Fox News Channel's John Gibson debuts in his new radio program on Jan. 19. Smerconish's new program is available Feb. 2.

A Philadelphia lawyer turned political commentator, Smerconish is also a best-selling author, columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and a Philadelphia Daily News and MSNBC contributor. He has guest-hosted for O'Reilly's radio and cable show, Chris Matthews on Hardball, and on Glenn Beck's radio and TV programs. His ratings on WPHT speak for themselves: a 5.5 overall share in morning drive.
