Arbogast Leaves Stifel for Comcast/NBCU

Comcast/NBC Universal has just added to its public policy team in Washington, bringing on Rebecca Arbogast as vice president of global public policy. A widely quoted Washington, D.C. expert on legal and regulatory issues affecting communications, media, and technology, Arbogast, who had been a managing director at Stifel Financial, both understands the media business and the workings of Washington.

It's the third high-profile government policy hire for Comcast/NBCU since the media goliath completed its merger with NBCU earlier this year.

Arbogast will report to Kyle McSlarrow, who was named Comcast/NBCU's Washington president this spring after having headed up the National Cable & Telecommunications Association since March 2005. The company also hired former FCC Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker as senior vice president of government affairs.

Before her time at Stifel, Arbogast was chief of the International Bureau Telecommunications Division of the Federal Communications Commission. She also served in the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel.

"I feel beyond fortunate that I'm leaving one great firm and set of people to join another," Arbogast said in an email. Arbogast's first day with Comcast/NBCU is Sept. 19.
