Yahoo and Wenner Strike Content-Sharing Deal

Wenner Media struck a deal with Yahoo that will lend some of Wenner’s name-brand power to the online news network by creating original entertainment content for both publishers’ sites. Beginning today, the Yahoo Music vertical will feature a permanent, branded Rolling Stone page and vice versa, while Yahoo’s celebrity news site, omg!, will have the same arrangement with Us Weekly. Additionally, content from Wenner’s Men’s Journal will be distributed elsewhere on Yahoo.

“Under this agreement, editorial teams from both companies will work closely together to co-produce a new breed of online editorial franchises around the entertainment topics users are most interested in,” the company said in a statement.

There’s also a print component planned, with Yahoo Music and omg! co-created content slated to appear in the pages of Rolling Stone and Us Weekly.

The branded pages are already live on both Yahoo and Wenner’s sites—although, at the moment, the content isn’t easily accessible from either of the sites’ homepages, save for a link buried at the bottom of the page.
