USA Today Sports Media Group president Tom Beusse, who has served in the role since 2011, is stepping down, parent company Gannett announced on Tuesday. Replacing him is Dave Morgan, the sports group's svp of content and editor in chief.
Morgan has experience in both digital and print sports media, including stints as executive editor of Yahoo Sports and deputy sports editor at The Los Angeles Times. Beusse is leaving the company to "pursue other opportunities," according to Gannett.
“We look forward to Dave continuing the work Tom started by building USA Today Sports Media Group (which has purview across Gannett's many media properties) into the top source of sports news and information in the country. Dave’s newsroom experience and business background make him the right fit to lead our sports team as we transition from entrepreneurial startup into the next phase of development," USA Today president and publisher Larry Kramer said in a statement.
