'New York Times' Media Desk Looking for Deputy Editor

Bruce Headlam, editor of The New York Times' Media desk, confirmed to Adweek on Tuesday that he is looking for a new deputy editor to replace Mary Jo Murphy, who moved to the Culture section “about a month ago.”

Headlam hasn't yet decided who will get the job, but he said that it will be an internal hire.

Murphy moved to the Media section in July 2010 along with Craig Hunter after deputy editors Rick Lyman and Steve Reddicliffe moved to National and Sports, respectively. As deputy editor under Headlam, she oversaw the paper’s coverage of both Hollywood and the publishing industry.
