Hugo Lindgren has found his next act after leaving The New York Times magazine: editing The Hollywood Reporter.
In a memo to staffers this afternoon, THR editorial director Janice Min announced that Lindgren would join THR as temporary acting editor for the next three months.
During that time, Min (along with THR executive editor Matt Belloni, creative director Shanti Marlar and photo and video director Jennifer Laski) will focus on overhauling THR sister publication Billboard. (Both magazines, along with Adweek, are owned by Guggenheim Media.)
Lindgren will be relocating from New York to THR’s Los Angeles headquarters beginning Jan. 27.
This news comes on the heels of Tuesday’s announcement that THR parent Guggenheim Media would undergo a reorganization. The company is being split into two operating entities: the Entertainment Group, which includes THR and Billboard, and a second group containing Adweek, the CLIO Awards and the Film Expo Group. Min was named co-president and chief creative officer of the Entertainment Group and will oversee both brands’ editorial staffs. Co-president John Amato will be responsible for the Entertainment Group’s business side. Jeff Wilbur was named president of the group containing Adweek.
