BOSTON Zipatoni CEO Jim Holbrook has left the promotional agency to run Emak Worldwide, a marketing services company in Los Angeles.

Holbrook, 46, will begin as Emak's CEO on Nov. 14.

Holbrook served as the Interpublic Group shop's CEO from 1996 to 2001 in St. Louis. After that, he was president and CEO of a portfolio of marketing agencies at IPG. While at Zipatoni, he worked on a variety of accounts including Visa, eBay, Jim Beam, Maytag and Energizer.

"After careful consideration of a field of talented candidates, Jim emerged as the clear choice," said Jeffrey Deutschman, a board member representing Crown Capital, an Emak shareholder and member of the search committee, in a statement.

From 1984 to 1996, Holbrook held various sales and marketing posts with Nestle Purina PetCare. He began his career in 1981 in brand management at Procter & Gamble.

"The world of marketing is changing radically, and I have a very well-defined vision of the future of marketing [what I call a move from 'spectator marketing' to 'participant marketing']," said Holbrook in a statement. "I see a lot of opportunity to turn the company into an even greater enterprise. It's an exciting time to be in this industry and to be joining Emak."
