NEW YORK ChevronTexaco has tapped WPP Group's Young & Rubicam Brands to handle its global corporate advertising account, the agency said.
The San Ramon, Calif.-based client spent $1 million on U.S. corporate ads in 2003 and $2 million through May, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
In a statement, Y&R Brands chairman and CEO Ann Fudge said, "I am very proud that we have been entrusted with this important piece of ChevronTexaco's communications portfolio. ChevronTexaco is a great brand and we look forward to supporting and enhancing it."
Y&R will create advertising and communications for TV, print, outdoor and online advertising on six continents.
Agency vice chairman Michael Patti, who led the pitch, said in a statement, "This was, quite fittingly, an energizing experience. We had the trust of our client partners. The insights inspired great ideas and work. The spirit of the team carried the day."
Y&R has been on the ChevronTexaco roster since 1932, and last year landed the client's distribution, marketing and retail communications business.
WPP's Brouillard in New York had handled the client's corporate advertising.
