NEW YORK (Dow Jones News)-- Yahoo! Inc. and Sony Corp. said Tuesday that they have signed a multiyear pact that includes developing a co-branded Web site and promoting each other's products.

Terms weren't disclosed.

The two companies aim to deliver content and communications tools to consumers through a new Sony on My Yahoo! Web site they will develop. The site will offer access to Sony services, content and promotions.

The co-branded site will become the default start page for Sony Style Connect, the Internet-access service Sony recently launched.

In addition, Sony's Vaio computers will come loaded with software that will enable consumers to register quickly for personalized Sony and Yahoo! content and services.

Among other aspects of the agreement, Yahoo! will give SonyStyle.com, Sony Electronics' e-commerce site, prominent placement on its Yahoo Shopping home page and other Web pages. SonyStyle.com offers most of Sony's consumer audio-video and PC products.

The two companies also plan to develop online marketing programs for Sony Pictures Entertainment's movies on Yahoo's network.

In turn, the agreement allows Sony Corp. of America, New York City, to use Yahoo Full Service, a suite of tools and services for targeting and measuring audiences and analyzing marketing programs.

"Sony's tremendous strength in electronics and entertainment coupled with Yahoo!'s brand strength and 200 million users globally provide a formidable platform to deliver meaningful offerings that are exciting and entertaining to our audiences," said Terry Semel, chairman and CEO of Yahoo!. "We plan to continue to build on both companies' strengths and explore additional opportunities over time."

Yahoo, of Sunnyvale, Calif., offers a network of services to more than 192 million individuals each month world-wide.
