You may think of typical Internet habitués as 20somethings with exotic facial hair and/or multiple piercings. The prosaic truth is that parents are more likely than non-parents to be online. A study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project fleshes out this picture. Defining non-parents as adults with no minor children at home, the study finds 70 percent of parents use the Internet, vs. 53 percent of non-parents. Parents are also more likely to feel computers help people get a grip on life (see the chart).
