Don Manley and Michel Schtakleff, old art school friends, have reunited to open Wiggleroom Design.

Manley had owned and operated the one-man operation Manley Designs in Providence, R.I., since 1994. He asked Schtakleff, a friend from their days together at the California Institute of the Arts who was running a nonprofit in Santa Monica, Calif., to take a cross-country drive. While planning the trip, Schtakleff decided to stay in New England and start a shop with Manley.

“We talked about him becoming part of Manley Designs, but decided it made more sense to start a new entity,” Manley said.

A focus of that new entity will be on corporate identity development, especially with startups, with the hopes of continuing work for the clients on collateral, Web design or advertising.
