NEW YORK Following a review, Welch Foods has awarded creative chores on its $20-25 million ad account to WPP Group’s J. Walter Thompson, the client has confirmed.

The New York shop beat out independent Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago and the incumbent, Havas’ Arnold in New York, according to a client representative.

Jones Lundin Beals, the Chicago-based consultancy, managed the review.

Welch Foods in Concord, Mass., is the marketing arm of the National Grape Cooperative Association.

JWT’s “enthusiasm, resources and strategic thinking” won the day, the client rep said.
