LOS ANGELES Although the National Football League had attempted to squelch Las Vegas-themed advertising during Sunday’s Super Bowl telecast, new work on behalf of the city’s Convention and Visitors Authority by independent R&R Partners broke during the game, an agency representative confirmed this week.

“Punch Drunk,” the first of six new “Vegas Stories” commercials, aired at least once during the Philadelphia Eagles-New England Patriots showdown, the rep said. The comic, 30-second spot, in which a stereotypical boxing manager encourages his badly battered fighter to get back in the ring, aired on Fox affiliate stations in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco; it was also shown during the kick-off segment in Philadelphia.
