A second straight week of falling markets and rising consumer prices fueled further inflation fears. Though Friday saw some recovery, the market dropped 291 points on Wednesday and Thursday, finishing the week down 2.1 percent at 11,144.06 (down 236.37). The Nasdaq also closed down, dropping 40.13 points (1.8 percent) to finish at 2,193.88. Ad stocks were mostly down as well. Omnicom was flat, closing at 91.85. Interpublic Group dropped 3.4 percent, closing at 9.47. WPP Group closed at 61.29, down nearly 1 percent. And Publicis Groupe dropped 2.4 percent to finish at 39.64.
