Tricon Considers Consolidating Nearly $300 Mil. In Media

Tricon Global Restaurants is considering consolidating network TV buying for KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell at one of its media roster agencies--BBDO Worldwide, Young & Rubicam Advertising or True North Communications.
Competitive Media Reporting put combined network TV expenditures during 1996 at $285 million.
TN Media in both Chicago and New York does national and local buying for Taco Bell. BBDO, New York, handles all media and creative duties for Pizza Hut while Y&R, New York, handles media and creative for KFC. Creative for Taco Bell is developed by TBWA Chiat/Day, Venice, Calif. Nonroster shops have not yet been invited to pitch.
Tricon said it will keep spot buying and creative duties at its current shops. --Sloane Lucas with staff reports
