The Dallas Advertising League awarded its top prizes to Ackerman McQueen and DDB at the club's TOPS ceremony last week.
Best of show and best of broadcast went to Ackerman for its Tulsa Ballet television spot. Titled "You Forgot," the ad cleverly presents ballet tickets as a panacea for forgotten occasions.
Best of print went to DDB's Dallas office for its McIllenny Co. Tabasco sauce ads. The series depicts product "labels" in which the usual copy is replaced with warnings such as "In this case milder only means it will take less time to recover from it" (for green jalapeño sauce).
Other gold Addy winners in the consumer category included Publicis in Mid America (television spot for Cellular One), Temerlin McClain (for American Airlines) and GSD&M (for Southwest Airlines).
In Corpus Christi, Texas, ¡idea!Worldwide took home most of the top honors from the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation. The agency's awards included best of broadcast, print and radio, as well as best of show for its Corpus Christi Medical Center advertising campaign.
Pettus Advertising won best of newspaper for its American Bank campaign. Snyder & Associates and Lucky Penny Studio were honored with special judges awards.
