NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s Lowe today confirmed that Tesco—its largest client by revenue in London—is leaving the agency after 16 years.

The split was expected [Adweek, Dec. 5], and the estimated $80 million account is shifting to a new London-based agency being started by Frank Lowe.

Tesco said the shift would be completed in March, following a wind down from Lowe, which had handled the business since January 1989.

“This is obviously very disappointing for all of us,” said Garry Lace, CEO of Lowe’s London office.
