Tenneco Taps Barkley

Tenneco Automotive has named Barkley, Evergreen & Partners agency of record on its $15 million account.
The Kansas City, Mo., shop will provide strategic planning, media, creative, sales promotion and event marketing for the Lake Forest, Ill., client’s Walker, Monroe, Dynomax and Rancho brands. Barkley replaces J. Walter Thompson in Detroit, which had handled the account for 26 years.
Barkley’s first task will be to introduce a premium line of Monroe shock absorbers and struts.
In preparing to launch the new line, the company listened to pitches from three agencies: Barkley, JWT and an undisclosed Michigan shop, sources said.
