NEW YORK Lowe has promoted director of client services Sal Taibi to president of its New York office, the Interpublic Group agency said.
In his new role, Taibi reports to both New York CEO Susan Cantor and Mark Wnek, the office's chairman and chief creative officer.
Taibi's ascension comes as Lowe seeks to rebound from a series of 2005 client losses (including Century 21, A&P and Wisk) and as the shop defends its $15-20 million MassMutual account, which launched a review this month. Lowe also is a finalist in the $12-15 million Sovereign Bank review [Adweek Online, Jan. 13].
Taibi, 46, joined Lowe via its 2003 merger with sister shop Bozell. At Bozell, Taibi was director of client services and executive in charge of the Milk Processor Education Program account, which markets itself under the "Got milk?" tagline.
At Lowe, Taibi continued to steer Milk, and, in February 2004, he rose to director of client services, succeeding Cantor, who had become New York president. (In April 2005, Cantor advanced to CEO.)
As president, Taibi will continue to focus on client management and take on additional operational duties, such as those related to staffing, an agency representative said. Lowe intends to fill his client services post, according to Wnek.
"He's my go-to person," Wnek said. "He's solid and nice and couldn't be more different" than me.
In a statement, Taibi said, "I believe in the new agency direction set forth by Mark, and I think 2006 is going to be a great year for us."
