SOUTHERN METTLE Gains N.Y. MEDALS

Dieste & Partners was a big winner at the New York Festival, which honored international television and cinema advertising.
At a presentation ceremony dominated by overseas work, the Dallas shop received the public service announcement category's best of show, one of five grand awards, for "Dad." The PSA, for client Nelson-Tebedo Clinito, promotes condom usage.
Two Atlanta agencies, J. Walter Thompson and Fitzgerald & Co., were recognized with gold medals for cinematography and copywriting, respectively. JWT's spot for Slazenger, "As Good as It Gets," and Fitzgerald's "Doctor" for the Television Bureau of Advertising were the recipients.
Picture Radio in Richmond, Va., won a silver medal for its Campaign Virginia spot. Bronze medals were awarded to Atlanta's Donino, White & Partners; Mercury Advertising, Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; and Bromley Aguilar & Associates of San Antonio. --T.W. Sieber
