MIAMI BEACH, FLA. What will future spec ad reels look like? One industry veteran suggested they will contain much more long-form content and viral ads during a talk at the Clio Award Festival here.
Tom Mooney, principal of Headquarters, made those predictions to a crowd of about 100 during Shoot magazine’s “The Best Work You May Never See” presentation on Sunday.
He said traditional spec ads (30- or 60- second spots made by a director on his own, or with agency participation but no financial support) are still useful in terms of building relationships with agencies.
