DALLAS Omnicom Group has hired SBC Communications to provide voice and data services to more than 400 of the holding company's affiliates, the companies said.
The value of the deal was not disclosed. Omnicom, headquartered in New York, is one of the nation's largest advertising and marketing conglomerates. SBC, based in San Antonio, is a Fortune 50 company and the nation's second-largest telecommunications company behind Verizon.
"We're pleased that the breadth and scope of SBC products and services meet the needs of the world's largest advertising conglomerate," said Bob Ferguson, president of SBC global markets.
Under the contract, SBC will provide long-distance voice, network and data management services, the company said.
"We were looking for a way to support the diverse needs of our affiliates by providing a wide range of product offerings without signing numerous commitments across the country," said Nancy McLaughlin, director of telecommunications services for Omnicom.
