After stints at Chiat/Day and Leo Burnett, Boyko, 55, joined Ogilvy & Mather in 1989 and went on to help redefine and re-energize the shop with memorable campaigns for clients such as Miller Lite and American Express. Of all the words used to describe him—”competitive” and “demanding,” colleagues and competitors say—”professorial” has not been one of them. Nevertheless, the chief creative officer of Ogilvy North America and co-president of Ogilvy & Mather, New York, left the agency business last week to become managing director at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Adcenter.
