Richards Qualifies for Wawa's Final Round

ATLANTA Three finalists have emerged in the review involving the ad account of convenience store Wawa, sources said.

MARC in Pittsburgh, Havas' McKinney + Silver in Raleigh, N.C., and Dallas indie The Richards Group, which has a New York satellite office, will receive briefs from the client this week, sources said.

Eliminated from contention were Adworks in Washington, D.C., Blattner Brunner in Pittsburgh, Eisner Communications in Baltimore, Gardner Nelson & Partners in New York and Gyro in Philadelphia.

Annual billings are undisclosed. The retail chain in Wawa, Pa., spent nearly $7 million on ads in 2002 and more than $3 million through August 2003, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

A decision is expected in January.

Select Resources International in West Hollywood, Calif., is leading the search.

Agency executives declined comment. Officials at SRI and the client could not be reached.
