Young & Rubicam has successfully fended off challenges from two shops for its $25-35 mil-lion Nascar account, a client executive said.

The Chicago shop has won creative plaudits for its work since taking over the business two years ago. Nonetheless, Nascar sought ideas from DDB Chicago and The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., earlier this summer, sources said.

A Nascar representative confirmed the review: “We wanted to see what options were out there.”

Nascar has exploded in popularity in recent years but continues efforts to convert new fans.
