LOS ANGELES Digitas has named Martin Reidy president of Digitas West, a new position, the company said today.

Reidy, who is currently president and chief executive officer of Interpublic Group's interactive agency R/GA in New York, is expected to start at Digitas in San Francisco in January. He will report to Rob Willms, president of Digitas' Boston region. Reidy will lead an office that works with clients like Charles Schwab & Co., Sony eSolutions and Microsoft.

"We believe Digitas is poised for significant growth in the West Coast region, and we are delighted that Martin will help us lead growth there and across the entire Digitas network," said David Kenny, chairman and CEO of Digitas, in a statement. "Martin has proven his ability to provide extremely high-quality creative marketing agency services to leading brands. He is also an exceptional builder and leader of integrated agency teams that produce outstanding results for clients."

Reidy is leaving R/GA by the end of November, according to a statement issued today by R/GA. Bob Greenberg, R/GA's chairman and chief creative officer, will assume the title of CEO. R/GA will not name a new president, a company representative said.

"During the past seven years that Martin has been with R/GA, we have built a great partnership," said Greenberg, in a statement. "His contributions have been a valuable asset to the company, including successfully leading R/GA through the recent difficulties faced by our industry. The company is well positioned for future growth and is stronger now than at any time in the past decade."

Reidy joined R/GA in 1996 as president and was named CEO in 1999. Prior to joining R/GA, he was senior vice president at EMI Music and also served as a partner at strategy consulting firm Bain & Co.
