NEW YORK Red Door Interactive has bought the assets of Web development company Avencom.
With the acquisition, Red Door adds seven staffers to its 10-person workforce and clients such as Buck Knives and Lightpointe. The San Diego-based interactive shop did not pick up liabilities, such as debt or leases.
Laura Wilber, president of 5-year-old Avencom, also San Diego, will sit on Red Door's board of advisors.
Westchester Associates, a mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, consulted Red Door on the purchase, of which terms were not disclosed.
Red Door, founded two years ago by former McQuerterGroup executives Reid Carr and Amy Carr, handles Web site design and development, interactive campaigns and search-engine marketing, among other online services, for clients like Toshiba's network products division, Ensemble Communications and Sharp Systems of America.
