NEW YORK Andrew Deitchman, who was director of business development at WPP Group's Red Cell in London, is leaving the agency, the shop confirmed.
Deitchman, 34, an American whose father worked at Ogilvy & Mather some years ago, will return to New York to open an office for independent London boutique Mother, sources said.
Executives at Mother in London declined to comment on Deitchman or whether they were opening a New York office. Deitchman could not immediately be reached for comment.
Lee Daley, co-chief executive of Red Cell, said Deitchman's last day will be June 30 and that he will not be replaced.
Deitchman joined Red Cell one year ago from Havas' Euro RSCG MVBMS Partners in New York and helped Red Cell develop its integrated communications offerings, Daley said. He would not comment further.
Since its inception a year ago, Mother has established itself as one of the U.K.'s hottest shop. It works for clients such as telecommunications concern Orange, financial services company Egg and Coca-Cola's Lilt brand.
Deitchman has previously worked at Interpublic Group's McCann-Erickson and its Amster Yard division in New York. He has also done tours at Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi and Omnicom's Siegel + Gale.
