NEW YORK Digitas today reported that its second-quarter net profit more than doubled to $7.6 million, as its fee revenue rose 17 percent to $60.6 million.

The interactive shop, which revealed plans to buy Modem Media this morning (see related story), posted net income of $7.6 million, or 10 cents per diluted share, up from $2.9 million, or 5 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter.

Q2 fee revenue for the Boston-based company, which handles digital- and direct-marketing chores for clients like General Motors and American Express, totaled $60.6
