With the legal fracas between the Pets.com’s sock puppet and Conan O’Brien’s “Triumph the Insult Comic Dog” so recently making headlines, one would think agencies would steer clear of hand puppets for fear of further furor.
But hand puppets are apparently too hot to ignore. A new campaign from Leo Burnett promoting McDonald’s tie-in with Disney’s movie Dinosaur employs hand puppets to take orders at the drive through window.
Using the puppets is not a case of jumping on a bandwagon, Burnett officials pointed out.
