CHICAGO Publicis Groupe on Thursday reported a 2 percent improvement in organic revenue for the third quarter compared with the same period a year ago. That figure excludes acquisitions.

The Paris-based holding company posted approximately $1.1 billion in revenue for the quarter, up 56 percent from the same period a year ago, but the bulk of that increase stems from the September 2002 purchase of Bcom3.

In a statement, Publicis CEO Maurice Levy said the quarter yielded “confirmed growth” in North America, to a lesser extent in Latin America, but “the situation in Europe remains a concern … several European markets still remain difficult.”
