LOS ANGELES E.B. Lane Marketing Communications said it has hired Michael Pitzer as vice president and executive creative director.

Pitzer, 44, replaces Jeff Miraglia, who left the Phoenix agency in February to pursue personal business endeavors, said Beau Lane, president and CEO of E.B. Lane. Pitzer becomes a member of the shop's seven-person management team. He reports to Lane and oversees 18 creatives, Lane said.

"He has a varied background in consumer goods, high-tech, the restaurant industry, and the travel and tourism industry," said Lane, adding that the shop was also attracted to Pitzer's combination of experience with large and midsize shops.

Pitzer most recently operated his own firm, Pitzer Advertising & Design in Sacramento, Calif., where he worked with Bay Area clients including Iberia Airlines, Cisco Systems and the California Department of Forestry. He has also worked at agencies including Dailey & Associates, Wells Rich Greene, BBDO, Bozell and Evans Hardy & Young on accounts such as Honda Motorcycles, Honda Power Equipment, the California Lottery, Honey Baked Ham Co., Bob's Big Boy, Coco's and El Torito.

"This is probably the best move I've ever made," said Pitzer. "I feel like I've won 20 new accounts." He added that he was eager to work at E.B. Lane because it is among the oldest and largest agencies in Arizona, and also because of its client list, which includes the Arizona Lottery, Arizona Department of Health Services/Anti-Tobacco Campaign, Arizona Cardinals and Smith & Wesson Holding Corp.
