DDB Chicago group creative director Don Pogany last year set out to capture America’s reaction to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks using a digital camera to grab images of American flags and the people who fly them.

The results are in a 272-page book released last week, Our Flag Was Still There. 50 States in 100 Days: An American’s Journey Across a Nation United.

Pogany spent $20,000, often adding side trips to his business travel, to put the book together.
