Last year, attending Cannes as executive creative director for 180 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Peter McHugh says he was struck by how print and outdoor advertising had evolved to using more alternative media and ideas, which, in turn, has changed the way more traditional agencies approach their work. “The Goodbys, the Crispins and the Wiedens were not winning for traditional press and outdoor, but winning cyber Lions,” he says.

As a first-time Cannes juror, McHugh—now chief creative officer of Interpublic Group’s Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis—says he’s looking forward to viewing work he’s never seen before.
